Event History

This is the 28th annual juried exhibition showcase of all Contemporary Dayton Members. This is a popular exhibition that increases the number of participants each year. Each show has a general theme for the artists to show their own representation of.

Artist maintains copyright and ownership of works

This exhibit is open to all current Members – every submission will be included, celebrating our diverse community of visual artists. We prefer that your artwork reflects your interpretation of the theme, Glow, but it is not a requirement. We also request that the work be produced in the last three years and not been shown recently at a local venue.

There is a size limit: Your artwork must be no larger than 30 inches WIDE by 36 inches HIGH, including any frame or display unit.

Prize Juror: Mary Gray, curator and gallerist, former Executive Director of the Ohio Arts Council Riffe Gallery in Columbus, OH.

There is no entry fee, but all entrants must have a current Membership. If your membership expires before August 10, you may join or rejoin online at www.thecontemporarydayton.org or at the gallery during the delivery times. Memberships starts at $25 for students and $50 for individuals. If you have questions about your membership status, call 937/224.3822 or email lgleason@thecontemporarydayton.org.

One work per entrant; work in all media will be eligible. Two-dimensional work must be fully framed and wired, and ready to hang from picture hooks. The exhibition committee reserves the right to decline any work that is considered unsafe or inadequately prepared. No 2D work (including frame) can be larger than 30 in. wide by 36 in. high. Please contact us in advance if 3D work is larger than 26 x 26 x 36 in. to ensure that we can accommodate it. We also would like to have a jpg of your artwork for marketing purposes. All reasonable care will be exercised by The Contemporary Dayton and its agents, but will not be responsible for loss, theft, or damage to works submitted for this exhibition. Artists are responsible for insuring their work. The Contemporay Dayton reserves the right to photograph work for publicity purposes. Work may or may not be available for purchase. We encourage sales. The Co’s commission rate is 40%. 

Drop-off of work is Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Opening Reception: Friday, July 5, 2019 6-8 p.m.

Exhibition closes Saturday, August 10, 2019
