Event History
Over the past 40 years, this exhibition has become one of the Mid-South’s most prestigious annual photographic events. The event originated in 1975 as the Paducah Summer Festival Photo Competition. Paducah Photo has grown from a small contest into an international juried exhibition. In 2013, Paducah was given the honor of being designated as a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network in the area of Crafts & Folk Art. In order to embrace this international honor and to reflect the international growth of the exhibition, Paducah Photo adopted a a new name, Art Through the Lens.
Copyright Policy
Participating photographers retain ownership of all photographic copyrights but in consideration for inclusion in the exhibition grant Yeiser Art Center the right, without compensation, to reproduce said photographs for the sole purpose of press releases, web site inclusion, marketing and the promotion of present and future Art Through the Lens competitions.
Art call to photographers.
Photographers can submit unlimited entries, including moving images and video. All photo-based imagery created through photographic processes is eligible including non-lens made images. All artwork submitted must be original, completed in the last 3 years and not previously exhibited in an Art Through the Lens (formerly Paducah Photo) exhibition. Entries are submitted online through CaFE, a call for entry hosting site. This is an international juried exhibition; works will be selected to exhibit by a juror. If one or more of your works are accepted into the show, you will receive instructions regarding the final presentation. Unlimited entries are permitted. A nonrefundable entry fee of $15 is required for each photographic submitted for consideration. Entries may not be submitted via email or by mail to the Yeiser Art Center.
Additionally, applicants who live within a 100 mile radius of Paducah, Kentucky are automatically entered into a second jury round for a Regional Showcase component of the show. The Regional Showcase will take place on the same dates as the International Show at our community partner US Bank, located at 333 Broadway St, Paducah, Kentucky 42001. Those entries will be juried by a second regional juror, TBA.
