Event History

Our programme is entering it's fourth year exploring the coastline from interdisciplinary perspectives and learning how to sail as a close knit creative team.

What Makes this event different?

Sail Britain is an interdisciplinary creative arts and ocean research project working to inspire positive change for the oceans through creativity, community engagement and personal exploration. We offer places onboard our ocean-going sailing vessel for artists to explore Britain's wonderful coastline, maritime culture and identity while being part of a close knit team and learning to sail in the process.

We are calling artists, creatives and social thinkers to join our sailing voyage this year as we circumnaviagate the UK's wonderful coastline to inspire positive change for the ocean and coastal communities.

Sail Britain is a platform for the development and exchange of ideas, exploration and cross disciplinary creativity. Examining our relationship with the sea while learning how to sail an ocean-going yacht allows privileged insights into an inaccessible environment. Work alongside people from the arts, sciences and communities to understand issues such as marine plastic pollution, the cultural importance of islands, and what it means to be small on a big Blue Planet!

-       - Be part of an interdisciplinary creative team

-       - Expert tuition to learn how to sail

-       - Share and develop new ideas in a unique creative environment

- Contribute to a wonderful social project to explore how creativity can be a vehicle for positive change

We will be sailing in one or two week legs around the British Isles from April – October 2018, different sections have different themes from ocean plastic pollution to cultural heritage and pure residency weeks.

Please visit our website for further details and feel free to get in touch with questions or suggestions, we’re always happy to say hello. Everyone welcome regardless of background!
