Add to Favorites Report Listing

The Derwent Art Prize began five years ago. The competition has received over 7000 entries from over 67 countries. The third edition attracted 3,299 entries by 1,193 artists worldwide. Derwent looks forward to both domestic and international entries for the 2018 prize.

Astri Saunders, who is head of marketing at Derwent, said “We are proud to launch the Derwent Art Prize for the fourth year. Our aim for the exhibition is to showcase artworks created in pencil and increase the profile and importance of drawing as a fine art medium”.

A distinguished panel of selectors will be judging this year's entries.

Previous First Prize winners (£6,000) include Agim Sulaj (Albania/Italy), Brian Fay (Ireland) and Chrys Allen (UK). All have subsequently held successful solo and group exhibitions since winning the prize. Prizes are also awarded for Second Prize (£3,000), Third Prize (£1500), the People’s Choice Award (£750), a Young Artist Award (£750) for the best artwork from an artist under the age of 25 and a Coloured Pencil Award for Excellence (£500).

The deadline for entries is May 8th, 2018, 5pm. Artists can submit up to six of their works.
