These residencies are managed by creative Scottish husband and wife team, Colin Usher and Julia Douglas. Colin Usher is a Photographer and Digital Media expert and Julia Douglas a Mixed Media Artist (specialising in Textiles and Screen-print) and a Web Designer. They are well connected in the area and willing to share their knowledge and contacts with you during your stay. The property is really special! Description of residency program
Studio Faire is a new contemporary art space in South West France, providing residencies for artists, writers, musicians and all other types of creative practitioner.

Situated in the market town of Nérac, in the stunning Lot-et-Garonne region, on the northern edge of Gascony. Here you will find the ‘real’ unspoilt France. Medieval Villages are surrounded by lush green rolling hills that lead your eye to the horizon via sunflower fields, orchards and vines. The perfect place to slow down and focus.

This residency is open to creative practitioners working in all disciplines.

Residents live and work in the house, studios and gardens of Studio Faire, a Maison de maître built around 1840 and still retaining its period characteristics. Rooms and studios are spacious and mature gardens offer private space for work and play.

Studio/ workspace
There is a large studio space in the old garage, with it's own sink and North facing glazed garage doors. It can be accessed from the bedrooms and kitchen. Two giant attached workshops, plus another external building in the garden, can also provide great space for larger sculptural projects or messy work and the large walled garden is enclosed, offering private space for reading or drawing under the mature trees.

Fees and support
This 4 week self-directed residency is a self-funded residency for 1 or 2 people. Rates include a private double bedroom, and shared shower room with toilet, studio space, kitchen (for self-catering), dining room and gardens. A professional photoshoot of your work and yourselves and a public showing of your work are also included. 4 weeks for 1 person is 960€ and for 2 sharing is 1260€.

Expectations towards the artist
As this is a self-funded residency, we have no expectations towards the artist(s) and hope that this supportive environment, without the pressure to produce, will aid creativity, experimentation and the development of new ideas. Though we will assist you in showing the work you create during your residency through an exhibition, talk or informal gathering should you wish, this is completely optional.
