Art Call for Juried Photography Exhibit: The Quiet Landscape

All genres of landscape are welcome: industrial, urban, natural, and abstract, including all capture methods and processes. The Quiet Landscape will be curated  by Jacob and Alyssa Hessler.  They will be selecting 35 images for the gallery exhibit and an additional 40 images for exhibition in our online gallery.

Juror’s and Director’s Awards and up to 3 Honorable Mentions will be awarded. Those who receive the Juror’s Award and Director’s Award are entitled to a portfolio review by Jacob and Alissa Hessler. All 75 of the selected images will be included in the exhibition print catalog and will remain permanently on our website, with links to the photographer’s website. The gallery exhibition will open on September 13th, 2017.

Jacob Hessler is a graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography. Jacob has spent more than a decade working in both the fine-art and commercial photography worlds. He shoots for diverse clientele, and approaches studio lighting with a scientific aptitude. After leaving Brooks, Jacob did two years of post-graduate work in graphic design at Parsons the New School for Design in NYC. Both photography and typography are his passions. He is currently collaborating on “Boundaries,” a fine-press book project with the inaugural poet Richard Blanco. Hessler’s images will be paired with Blanco’s poetry. “Boundaries” will be released in 2017 by Two Ponds Press.

Alissa Hessler  has a diverse background in marketing, art direction, and creative project management. She has had successful careers working on both the creative agency side and the client side. In her past professional life she launched over 20 mobile devices to audiences worldwide, produced multi-million dollar corporate events, and managed global re-brands of international corporations. When she is not running client projects or co-teaching workshops, she continues building and expanding her Urban Exodus project, where she documents creative urbanites who left the concrete jungle for greener pastures. Alssa just finished writing and photographing her first book “Ditch the City and Go Country”, which will launch this July, and will be distributed by Macmillan Press.
