A Nation of Vision: 250 Years of American Art & Innovation explores the evolution of American art from 1776 to 2026, examining how contemporary artists engage with, reinterpret, or challenge the artistic and cultural legacies of the past. Artists from across the country are invited to submit work in all media.
This exhibition is not a survey of history, rather it is a conversation across time. Works may be abstract or representational and should demonstrate strong conceptual clarity and relevance to one of these thematic areas.
- Early Visions (1776–1900) – Landscape, portraiture, realism, folk art, history painting: traditional work inspired by early American life or place.
- Modern Shifts (1900–1980) – Modernism, abstraction, Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Minimalism: experimental work shaped by 20th-century change.
- Current Perspectives (1980–2026) – Contemporary, conceptual, installation, new media, mixed media: work addressing American life today.
