Event History

2021 launches the 8th year for the St. Joseph Sculpture Walk. Each year the Allied Arts Council purchases one of the sculptures and donates it to the City. Additionally, it is not unusual for private parties to purchase sculptures for their private collection. Depending on funding and the quality of the work submitted fifteen to twenty sculptures are selected each year.

The Allied Arts Council in conjunction with the City of St. Joseph invites regional, national, and international sculpture artists to enter a sculpture for the 8th annual St. Joseph Sculpture Walk! The Sculpture Walk is an exhibit of beautiful outdoor sculptures displayed for one year in downtown St. Joseph, Missouri.

Selected sculptures will be placed in downtown St. Joseph where they will remain for the June 2021-May 2022 exhibition. Sculptors receive a $750 honorarium if their piece is selected and compete for up to $13,000 in cash prize awards. Each sculpture is for sale to the public. Additionally, one sculpture is purchased to become a permanent part of St. Joseph’s public art collection.

Only artwork that is suitable for a mid-west outdoor environment should be submitted for consideration.

Interested sculptors should visit the Council’s website, www.stjoearts.org, for more information and how to apply. The deadline for submission is February 8 with notification of acceptance on or before March 31, 2021.
