2017 SELF DIRECTED RESIDENCIES for artists, writers and creative people of all disciplines

This residency program is open to established and emerging visual artists working in any medium. Musicians, writers, curators, cultural researchers, and performing artists are also welcome and encouraged to apply.

Self-directed residencies are offfered for varying lengths of time. Artists may come from 2 weeks to 6 months at a time. With your application, please specify the preferred time period for the residency and length of stay for your project. Our Self-Directed Residencies are neither sponsored nor themed.

 

AVAILABLE DATES

Sermoneta Room which is paired with the Ninfa Studio is $15/night ($450/month)

  • March 13 - April 7, 2017
  • July 4 – September 1, 2017
  • November 2 - 16, 2017
  • November 27 – December 15, 2017

Caetani Room for a Writer’s Live/Work space (no separate studio): $15/night ($450/month)
OR paired with the Ninfa Studio: $20/night ($600/month)

  • September 5 – 29, 2017
  • November 3 – December 15, 2017

Fogliano Room paired with a studio: $15/night ($450/month) or as a workspace only ($120/month)

  • March 13 - September 29, 2017
  • October 19 -  December 15, 2017

Fees are in Canadian funds, and are pro-rated for the length of stay. Program fees include a private bedroom and studio space with shared common areas: kitchen, bath and common areas.

Double occupancy can be possible for an additional fee of $5/night ($150/mo). Children and pets are not allowed. Additional nights/weeks are pro-rated at the nightly rate.

Please note: The fee does not include food, health insurance, travel expenses, art materials, exhibition costs, shipping or other personal expenses. To assist with funding most participants apply for grants to foundations, institutions, government agencies, universities, etc. in their country/province of origin. Pricing is tiered and is based on the length of the residency stay and the specific needs of the proposed project. Residents are expected to maintain their own studio spaces and rooms, shared common areas of the kitchen, bathroom and other common areas in a clean, tidy and orderly manner, with respect for the other residents using the space.


Residential accommodation includes:

  • 4 piece full bathroom shared
  • Communal gathering space in the library shared
  • Kitchen/eating area shared
  • 1 parking space on site
  • Towels, bed linens, and cleaning supplies are provided by the Centre
  • Coin operated laundry on site
  • Access to Library and Internet
  • Artists are responsible for their own travel, food requirements, health insurance, equioment, materials, and should have their own transportation.
  • Studio Space: Modest studio workspaces located on the Centre grounds are included in the overall fees.

Studio Includes:

Studio Footprint: approximately 12’ x 14’ (3.7 m x 4.3 m)
Ceiling Height: approximately 8’ (2.44 m)

  • Tub sink, access to water and washrooms.

  • Please note: There is limited access to equipment. If you have special equipment needs you should contact the Centre to ensure that this program is suitable for your expectations prior to making application.
