THE ESSENCE OF MONOCHROME (II. INTERNATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST)

The Stockholm Diary announcea its II. International Photo Contest, titled The Essence of Monochrome. This contest follows on the success of the first edition of the contest in Sweden. The goal of the contest is to collect the finest and most exciting moments that have been captured by professional or beginner artists and to provide an exhibition opportunity for the participants who are selected by an international jury committee. This year's exhibit will be in the heart of Europe: Budapest, the mesmerizing capital city of Hungary.

"As Baudelaire, the French poet, throught: not everyone has the capacity to see, but even fewer have the power to express."

The Stockholm Diary believes it is the capacity to express feelings, emotions, and ideas that makes photography exciting. This competition has a specific theme this year, the jury is looking for images in black and white, without any topical restrictions, that capture the essence of monochromatic moments. Black and white images urge the viewer to use the power of creative imagination while interpreting compositions individually.  The words of Robert Frank summarizes the selection of this year's theme: "There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment"
