What Makes this event different?
Galerie Sehnsucht is the only photography gallery in the Netherlands that works regularly with juried exhibitions without a static set of artists. It is the only gallery of its kind in Rotterdam, which is a town that is among the top ten harbors of the world and is in the hit lists of the hip travel guides. If selected your work, will be in our collection for a year. Even after the exhibition is over, we will continue to have your work for sale for a period of time through our webpage and events.
Copyright Policy
The gallery will use your images for PR of the exhibition and the sale of the work only, and not for any other purposes. The photographers copyright to his/her image is not limited in any other sense and he/she maintains ownership.
We seek images that work on the imagination of the viewer, that suggest a reality beyond the reality we see.
Our gallery is a place for dreamers, for people who like to mind travel simply by looking at photographs. Our gallery is more than just a gallery with white walls. We have a workshop room, a studio, and a small photographic café. Sehnsucht is, according to the German 18th century philosopher Friedrich von Schelling, the "gravity of our emotions". The emotion of this unconsolable longing is the gravity of our activities.
We strive to show work by photographers who are not yet represented by an art gallery, and to show and sell this work to young collector's who are looking for the gems of the future.
By our interpretation, photography is a word that is related to any image that is created by "writing with light", be it with analog film, a pinhole, digital camera or other.
