Event History

In 1983, The Naples Art Association initiated Art Encounter. The exhibit provides a platform for Florida artists to share the spotlight with their peers at the national level. For artists who reside outside of Florida, the exhibition provides an opportunity to demonstrate success, exhibit in Southwest Florida, and compete for nine cash prizes totaling $3,500.

What Makes this event different?

The gallery exhibition will be on view in Naples, Florida from Dec. 1st, 2018 - Jan. 12th, 2019. The exhibition is open to all media, subject matter and genres of artwork created after Jan. 1, 2014. The non-profit Naples Art Association celebrates its 65th year as the premier visual arts organization in the City of Naples, located in the heart of the 5th Ave. South shopping, dining and entertainment district. Three jurors will review all entries and select award winners.

The Naples Art Association may use images of artwork entered to promote the exhibition and other Naples Art Association programs.

The Naples Art Association is currently accepting entries for National Art Encounter 2018-19. This is a biennial exhibition that is open to artists who reside in the United States. The call features nine cash awards with a total value of $3,500.

The three jurors are: Brad Cushman, Gallery Director, University of Arkansas at Little Rock; Kirk Ke Wang, Professor of Visual Arts, Eckerd College, Saint Petersburg and Jill Deupi, Beaux Arts Director, Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami.

The brick and mortar exhibition will be on view in Naples, Florida from Dec. 1st, 2018 – Jan. 12th, 2019. The exhibit is open to all media, subject matter and genres of artwork created after Jan. 1, 2014.
