Event History
Founded in 2014, the Gomma Photography Grant has become one of the most respected independent awards in contemporary photography. Created by Gomma Publishing Ltd, it began as a small initiative to support uncompromising photographers working outside mainstream trends. Over the years, the Grant has grown into a truly international platform, attracting submissions from more than 90 countries. Its reputation for editorial integrity, transparent judging, and focus on authenticity has made it a reference among artists, curators, and publishers. While its core values have remained the same — independence, originality, and honesty — the contest has evolved continuously. The categories have expanded to include diverse visual approaches, from documentary and fine art to experimental and conceptual work. The jury has featured some of the most respected names in photography, ensuring a dynamic and inclusive perspective each year. After more than a decade, the Gomma Grant stands as a symbol of artistic freedom, celebrating those who push the medium forward through vision and courage.
