The Color Black – Call for Artists and Designers

Manifest invites visual artists and designers to submit work exploring the nuance, depth, and graphic power of the color black. Open to all traditional and non-traditional media.

Black exists as both absence and totality—simultaneously empty and full. It carries a unique expressive range, from subtle tonal shifts to bold, high-contrast statements. Artists may approach this theme through a wide variety of materials and processes, from the richness of graphite and charcoal to the intensity of ink, glaze, and paint.

This exhibition welcomes diverse interpretations that engage with black as both concept and material—highlighting its capacity to evoke mood, texture, and meaning.
