Event History
This is the first year of the program, though the museum has been hosting resident artists for many years.
What Makes this event different?
The Woodson Art Museum opened the Glass Box Studio, a space developed specifically for studio workshops, programs, and hands-on making, in June of 2023. Along with 24/7 access to the studio space, the museum provides a guest house, honorarium, and networking and outreach opportunities to its resident artists.
Call for Entries Artist Residency Program
“The Glass Box studio is equipped to accommodate artists working in all mediums, and virtually all scales—from miniature to monumental. The Woodson Art Museum staff welcomed me like family and created an environment where I could thrive.” said 2024 resident artist Spencer Tinkham.
According to Rachel Hausmann-Schall, the Woodson Art Museum’s Artist Residency and Adult Program Manager, “Wausau is incredibly fortunate to have the Glass Box Studio. This new residency program will allow the Woodson Art Museum to continue collaborating with a diverse lineup of artists and bringing quality visual arts programs to our community. All artists who participate in residencies bring something new to share with our audiences, from textile and fiber art to printmaking and stone sculpture, the creativity and artistic experiences afforded by the Glass Box Studio will have a longstanding impact here.”
