What Makes this event different?
Each year the Cleveland Institute of Art seeks to bring together a diverse group of art educators who have demonstrated a commitment to making, both in their personal studio and classroom. We create a stimulating and rigorous environment for a period of concentrated artistic creation, interaction and growth. While on campus, residents are given individual studio spaces, art-making supplies relative to their proposal, and access to the school’s state-of-the-art facilities. Exclusive supplemental programming will allow for engagement with a broad array of educational and cultural resources.
The 2018 residency focus will be the exploration of 2D processes and materials, with residents having access to studios and facilities in the areas on painting, drawing, printmaking and digital photography. It is open to current visual art educators and teaching artists.
To apply, please submit the following through our online form:
- Application form
- CV or resume
- Proposal: One page description of your proposed body of work, provide context and concepts, as well as detailed sketches. Include a list of materials and equipment needed for the studio.
All participants are eligible for a certificate showing their participation with up to 100 contact hours, or 10 CEUs. Residents have the option to earn up to two graduate credits through our partnership with Kent State University (for an additional fee and writing requirement).
