The photos you take could show the positive effect that man has had on nature – such as the creation of conservation projects or special places beneficial to wildlife – or they could illustrate the negative effects, such as marine plastics or polluted areas.
The BBC’s recent series, Blue Planet 2, again shone a light on some breath-taking areas of the planet that humans have never seen before, from tropical seas to the harsh conditions of the Arctic. However, it also revealed environmental challenges such as the extent of plastics in our oceans. Reportedly, there are now microplastics in the fish we eat, in our tap water and even in our bottled water.
Thomson Ecology’s laboratory handles large numbers of samples, and we are frequently asked to assess the presence of microplastics alongside the invertebrate animals in benthic samples.
