What Makes this event different?

Artists are provided with a $750 stipend, studio and living accommodations, as well as all UP & MoHA resources including but not limited to documentation, production and technical support.

The Museum of Human Achievement and UP foster a welcoming and intentional community of artists and arts administrators, as well as providing a number of useful facilities and tools for our resident artists' use. Our building is equipped with a co-working space, dark room, 1000 sq ft of gallery space, a venue area with PA, vinyl record cutting lathe, VR headset, tool library and various audio/visual equipment.

Both the venue and gallery host monthly exhibitions, weekly performance events and occasional educational programming. Artists in residence are encouraged to participate in the creation of our programming activities. MoHA is located in a thriving neighborhood near work-focused coffee shops, multiple local restaurants, and businesses, as well as a multitude of neighboring art/creative spaces, including ATM Gallery/Studio, Big Medium, Canopy,  Pump Project,  Tillery Park, and Not Gallery. We welcome all mediums imaginable and individuals whose work is outside the box.

Residents live on-site in a climate controlled renovated 1970s trailer with a private yard. Artists are provided with a newly constructed 16' x 12' studio with large barn doors opening onto the common area. Artists can use all of the tools, facilities, and supplies at hand. There is a small kitchen, bathroom, shower and Internet access. The trailer is climate controlled, but the studio is not.

Residencies last one month.

The program offers the opportunity to contribute to MoHA exhibitions and public programs. Artists in residence are strongly encouraged to submit proposals with a final talk or performance/exhibition in mind. We are able to help facilitate any necessary production needs to make it an excellent experience.

UP Vibes is part of a community-run center for artists. MoHA artists and members are asked to take part in the creation and maintenance of its facilities and programming.

Artists-In-Residence put in volunteer hours toward space renovation and a weekly chore.  There are frequent renovations to our building – a process that would be impossible without our dedicated network of volunteers.  MoHA is always a work-in-progress with a constantly changing physical and social environment. There are many opportunities to leave one’s mark.
