Call for Entries: After Dark Virtual Art Exhibition
The Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) invites artists worldwide to submit original work for After Dark, a juried virtual exhibition exploring the atmosphere, mystery, and beauty of the world after sunset. Open to original 2D and 3D artwork, the exhibition celebrates creative interpretations of twilight, evening, and the unique perspectives revealed by darkness.
As daylight fades, familiar places are transformed by shifting light, deep shadows, and quiet stillness. Whether inspired by illuminated city streets, moonlit landscapes, intimate interior scenes, or the vastness of the night sky, artists are encouraged to explore how darkness influences mood, perception, memory, and imagination.
Artwork may be representational, abstract, or conceptual, embracing a wide range of artistic approaches. Themes may include the changing qualities of light, the contrast between illumination and shadow, the tranquility of the night, or the emotional and symbolic experiences associated with the hours after sunset.
All entries are reviewed through MFA's blind jury process by professional and credentialed art experts. Selected works will be presented in the After Dark Virtual Exhibition through MFA's Virtual Gallery from October 15 through December 14, 2026.
Artists from around the world are eligible to enter, with the exception of those residing in sanctioned countries. All original 2D and 3D artwork that meets MFA's exhibition guidelines will be considered.
