Call for Works About Structure

Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, invites artists worldwide to submit original work for ARMATURE, a juried exhibition exploring the physical and conceptual structures that underpin the world around us.

Everything that moves, lasts, or functions depends on some form of structure. ARMATURE considers the systems, frameworks, supports, designs, and plans that make things possible, from bones and building foundations to transit systems, ecosystems, technological networks, and social structures.

The exhibition also considers structure as a process of thought and creation: sketches, blueprints, plans, engineering, and the underlying frameworks that support the development of an idea or form.

Theme

ARMATURE welcomes work that explores structure in physical, conceptual, architectural, technological, agricultural, economic, social, or other contexts.

Artists are encouraged to consider the visible and invisible systems that support, organize, connect, or sustain the things we experience and create.

Eligibility and Media

The exhibition is open to artists worldwide. Submitted work must be original and address the broad theme of structure.

All traditional and non-traditional genres and media are welcome.

There are no general size restrictions beyond what can be accommodated within Manifest's gallery spaces, walls, and entryways. There are also no general restrictions on when submitted works must have been created.

Entry Fee

$45 for up to three entries
$5 for each additional entry

There is no limit to the number of entries. Entry fees are non-refundable.

Exhibiting Artist Honorarium

Every participating exhibiting artist will receive a $50 cash honorarium.

Grand Jury Award

Exhibiting artists are eligible for Manifest's $1,000 Grand Jury Award, which is awarded during each exhibition period. The award is determined through a second jury process from among the top-scoring works from the exhibition's initial jury.
