Call for Entry - Exhibit Your Work

The Department of Art at Pittsburg State University is inviting Solo and Group Exhibition Proposals for the 2024-2025 academic year. Pittsburg State University Department of Art, which is located in Porter Hall has two galleries, University Gallery and Harry Krug Gallery. The University Gallery offers 900 square feet of space with 120 linear feet of wall space.  The Harry Krug Gallery has approximately 100 square feet of wall space.  Floor plans of both spaces available at https://www.pittstate.edu/art/

Artist proposals will be accepted through Wednesday, May 1, 2024, and works in all media will be considered. Notification of acceptance will be emailed by May 31, 2024.

To apply, please send the following as one PDF file no larger than 20mb to James Oliver, at joliver@pittstate.edu with the subject line “2024-2025 Exhibition Proposal”:

  1. A Statement of Intent that includes the following:
    • Biographical and contact information.
    • Exhibition Proposal Narrative which includes
      1. Suggested Title of Exhibition
      2. Description of concept or theme of work
    • Description of how the proposed work connects to the mission and goals and would appeal to the diverse program offerings and student body in the Department of Art at Pittsburg State University.
    •  Identify any special equipment or other requirements you may need that may become an impediment to presenting the proposed exhibition.
    • Indicate whether the accompanying images are images you are proposing for exhibition or are representative images only.
    • If granted additional support to be a Visiting Artist, description of the activities you propose during your stay, such as public lecture, additional presentations to select students, workshops, critiques, and/or class visits.  We generally require a public lecture but encourage participants to propose workshops or other discussions engaging both students and the public.
  2. Artist Statement or Curatorial Statement.
  3. 15-20 high quality images of proposed work for exhibition.
  4. Numbered Image sheet, corresponding sequentially numbered 1-15, with the artist’s name, title, media, size, and date.
  5. Current Curriculum Vitae or Resume.
