Nestled in the serene Northern Saimaa archipelago of Finland, the Hakoniemi Artist Residency offers a tranquil environment for artists, musicians, writers, designers, and researchers. Established in 2019 in Oravisalo, Rääkkylä, this residency provides an inspiring lakeside setting that fosters creativity and reflection. The facility includes two bedrooms, shared common areas, a well-equipped kitchen, an indoor sauna, and dedicated workspaces within a historic barn gallery. Residents can immerse themselves in the rich natural surroundings, with opportunities to explore local history and possibly observe the endangered Saimaa ringed seal. Applications are open for periods ranging from one week to five months, with sessions available in spring (January 6th - June 15th) and autumn (September 1st - December 21st). The residency is ideal for self-directed individuals seeking solitude, as it is located 15 km from the nearest village without public transportation. Families and pets are welcome upon prior arrangement.
