As one of New York City's premier fashion events, Fashion Week Brooklyn has become a major platform for local and international designers to present their collections, gain exposure, and connect with industry insiders. Now, FWBK is joining forces with its partners to host a special edition in the fashion capital of Japan, Osaka. The Portuguese luxury brand Empório Aragão is teaming up with FWBK to launch a competition for artists to have their artwork highlighted in a bag at Fashion Week Brooklyn-Japan'24. This fashion week will take place in November and offers artists the unique opportunity to showcase their work on an international stage. Each artist will have the chance to keep their bag at the end of the show, along with receiving additional exposure through event gift bags and brand promotion.
The collection's theme of inspiration is Japanese culture and the contrast between light and shadow, favoring abstract or figurative artworks that represent the five elements of Japanese Buddhist philosophy: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void/Ether. The color palette includes shades of black and white, gray and white, ocher and reddish tones, blue tones, or hues related to the element of water.
Participation incurs a cost of 200 EUR (219 USD), which includes the gift of the bag at the end of the show.
