Call for Entries for Artists
The Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) invites artists to submit original work for In the City, a juried exhibition exploring the character and experience of urban life. Works selected by the juror will be exhibited at MFA’s Circle Gallery from February 3–27, 2027. Cash prizes total $1,000.
Theme: Urban Experience
Artists are encouraged to create a visual story of the city, whether experienced as a resident or visitor. Submissions may explore the shared elements of urban life, from skylines, crosswalks, alleyways, and shops to bright lights, buses, taxis, and crowds.
The exhibition also welcomes work that reflects the distinctive identity of individual communities through local landmarks, restaurants, festivals, music venues, graffiti, and other features of city life. Interpretations may draw from any urban environment, from major metropolitan areas to small towns.
Eligible Work and Juror Selection
Original two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork that meets MFA’s exhibition guidelines will be considered. Submissions are reviewed through a blind jury process conducted by professional, credentialed art experts.
