INSPIRED: Art at Work – Request For Proposals!
Elsewhere Studios has received a grant from the Arts in Society Program for a project title, INSPIRED: Art at Work, which will bring two artists to Paonia, CO, during the summer of 2018 for a two-month fully funded residency, and the residency will provide materials and a stipend for one local artist.
Residents will work closely with five local partner organizations (Farm and Food Alliance, Western Slope Conservation Center, Citizens for a Healthy Community, Solar Energy International, and the North Fork Valley Creative Coalition), as well as scientists, and policy makers. Artists will create socially-engaged artworks that address issues stemming from the impacts of legacy coal mining, such as: pressures created by oil and gas development, creation of a resilient economy in rural Colorado, preservation of culture and environment, and loss of jobs. This collaborative work and a final symposium are designed to broadly engage the community and promote a dialog centering on concerns vital to the future of this rural area.
This open residency call is for visual artists, writers, composers, and performance artists.
The application deadline is November 15th, 2017
