Call for Entries: The Future Generation Competition
The Portrait Society invites emerging artists ages 18–25 to enter the Future Generation Competition, an international opportunity recognizing excellence in portrait and figurative art created by the next generation of representational artists.
The competition encourages young artists to showcase original work featuring the human figure, including both portrait and figurative subjects. Artists may submit up to three artworks for a single $30 entry fee.
Eligible Artwork
Submissions must feature the human figure and may include portrait or figurative artwork created in traditional fine art media.
Accepted media include:
- Oil
- Acrylic
- Watercolor
- Egg tempera
- Pastel
- Charcoal
- Sculpture
- Stone
- Clay
- Plaster
- Metal
Eligibility Requirements
- Open to artists 18–25 years of age
- Artwork must be the original creation of a single artist
- Work produced in a classroom or workshop is eligible only if completed without specific instruction or direction from an instructor
- Artists may submit up to three entries
Ineligible Work
The following are not accepted:
- Photography
- Digital or computer-generated artwork
- Artwork created under the supervision or direction of a teacher
- AI-generated artwork or compositions based on AI-generated imagery
- Artwork derived from published material or another artist's work

The Future Generation Competition provides young artists with an opportunity to gain recognition for outstanding portrait and figurative artwork while celebrating excellence in traditional representational art.
