The Big Book
The Big Book is a global publishing project by Arts to Hearts Project, developed as a growing collection of books dedicated to artists and the many forms contemporary creative practice can take.
The project began with a simple question: what happens when artists working within the same creative world are brought together in one carefully considered publication?
The result is more than a collection of individual artists. Each edition becomes a record of a particular creative community: the ideas being explored, the materials being used, the approaches being developed, and the different voices shaping a field at a particular moment.
The project began in 2024 with The Big Book of Tiny Creatives, created for artists between the ages of 2 and 18. Across its first three editions, more than 200 young artists have been brought together through the series, establishing the foundation for what The Big Book is intended to become: a growing published collection that continues to make room for more artists and more forms of creative practice.
The series is now expanding beyond young artists.
The Big Book of Painters 2026 will bring together another 100 artists working across painting, while The Big Book of Mixed Media Artists 2026 will add 100 artists working across materials, techniques, and disciplines. With each new edition, the collection grows by another group of artists, creating a larger body of published work that can be experienced across individual volumes.
This growth is central to the project.
The ambition is not to create one book and move on to the next. It is to build a long-term publishing collection in which each edition documents a different community of artists and, together, the books begin to form a broader record of contemporary creative practice.
A volume of painters reveals one landscape of ideas and approaches. A volume of mixed media artists reveals another. Future editions will continue into other disciplines, allowing the collection to grow across generations, countries, materials, and ways of working.
For the artists, this means being part of something that continues beyond a single publication. For readers, collectors, and the wider art community, it means having access to a growing body of contemporary work brought together in carefully produced physical books.
Today, the project has already published more than 200 young artists through The Big Book of Tiny Creatives. With 100 painters and 100 mixed media artists being added through the 2026 editions, the collection is continuing to grow into a substantial international record of artists working today.
The Big Book of Mixed Media Artists 2026 is the next chapter in that collection, bringing together 100 artists whose practices move across materials, mediums, and processes.
This is one edition of a much larger project, and the collection will continue to grow with every artist and every volume added to it.
