Image Usage Rights
You retain the copyright to your image(s) and they will not be sold by us. All entries will be placed on our website so that visitors can view all entries online. Winning entries may be used to promote the Award for a period of 24 months from the time the winners are announced and notified.
The Vincent van Gogh Photo Award 2027 is an international photography competition inviting photographers from around the world to explore the theme “In the Spirit of Light.”
Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s fascination with light, colour and atmosphere, this year’s competition challenges photographers to interpret light in their own distinctive way. Light can be powerful or subtle, natural or artificial, visible or merely suggested. It can shape a landscape, reveal emotion, create contrast or transform an everyday moment into something extraordinary.
The competition is open to photographers who wish to share their personal vision and artistic interpretation of the theme. Submitted work will be reviewed by a professional jury, offering participants the opportunity to gain international recognition, reach a wider audience and compete for attractive prizes.
The Vincent van Gogh Photo Award celebrates creativity, originality and the continuing inspiration of Van Gogh’s artistic legacy. Whether through documentary photography, portraiture, fine art, street photography or experimental work, entrants are encouraged to show how light speaks through their image.
The deadline for submissions is 1 April 2027. Photographers who register early can benefit from a 20% early-bird discount until 1 October 2026.
