
Event History
This is the fifth consecutive year that Getxophoto Festival launches this call for entries. In the last edition, this Open Art Call for visual artists and photographers was very well received internationally: 331 projects by artists from 45 different countries.
What Makes this event different?
This art call opens the doors to be able to exhibit at the Getxophoto International Image Festival. The festival takes place during the month of June mostly in the public space of Getxo (very close to Bilbao, the Basque Country).
Copyright Policy
The rights of the work will remain property of the author/s. Entrants to the 2022 Getxophoto Open Call submission must confirm that they are the authors and owners of the copyright to all images submitted and that their entries do not infringe the privacy rights, copyright or any other rights of any person. The entrant guarantees that they have the explicit consent of all people who are pictured in their submitted images (the legal guardian, in the case of children) to exhibit and publish the images as described in these terms and conditions.
Image Usage Rights
By participating, the selected entries may be reproduced by Begihandi / Getxophoto in any of its publications, web pages, social networks and/or any promotional material being referenced or credited only for promotional use (not for commercial use). 2 to 3 images from each selected entries may be released to the press to illustrate an article or report that reviews or reports on the Open Call or Getxophoto Festival and Begihandi / Getxophoto will not be required to pay any additional fee or request any additional approval in relation to such use.
Getxophoto’s Open Art Call is an opportunity for photographers and visual artists to showcase their work at the next edition of the Festival, which is in June 2022. The theme of the 16th edition is To Imagine found at: www.getxophoto.com/en/2022-edition/theme/
The Festival invites artists from around the world to submit work for this art call with proposals that use photography, video, installation, performance, actions, digital art or any other means of visual expression.
The international jury made up of Jon Uriarte –digital curator at The Photographers’ Gallery (UK)–, Marina Paulenka –independent curator (Croatia)–, Thyago Nogueira –head of photography at the Instituto Moreira Salles (Brazil)– and Damarice Amao –curator at the Centre Pompidou (France)– will select 12 shortlisted projects and 3 winning projects. The latter three will form part of the programme of this year’s Festival.
