The first edition. was juried by the late Mary Ellen Mark. Since then, dozens of female juros have selected and recognized emerging talents from more than 84 countries.
What Makes this event different?
The Julia Margaret Cameron Award, now in its 22nd edition, is the most coveted international award for women photographers. The JMCA exhibitions has already exhibited thousands of female artists from all over the world.
Copyright Policy
All submitters warrant that they own the work submitted and that they have the exclusive copyright. The Gala Awards recognizes that the author retains full ownership of the image copyright.
Image Usage Rights
Submitters warrant that their photographs may be reproduced for the purpose of marketing and promoting The Gala Awards’ competitions and Awards, as well as in catalogues, posters, postcards, publications, and on the Internet. Such use is granted for no more than two years after the announcement of the works selected in this competition. Such use is granted without any payment to the photographer or featured models. Photographers will receive credit with each use and allow The Gala Awards to sublicense their photographs to the press for reproduction in connection with The Gala Awards’ competitions and awards.
Call for Entries: Women in Photography Award
An international accolade spanning both non-professional and professional sections, exclusively welcoming submissions from women photographers. This biennial competition accepts images across more than 20 thematic categories. Selected works will be showcased at the FotoNostrum, Mediterranean House of Photography in Barcelona.
The recipient of the top honor, Woman Photographer of the Year in the Professional Section (Series), will receive a fully-funded exhibition at FotoNostrum Gallery in Barcelona. Additionally, all chosen images, including category winners and honorable mentions, will have the opportunity to partake in a collective exhibition alongside the overall winner. Those selected for the exhibition must provide high-resolution files and contribute approximately $280 per piece for printing and framing expenses, with FotoNostrum overseeing the management of these costs.
