Call for Entry for Artists - Commissioned Work

Fairfax County has asked the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA to facilitate the proposal, creation, and installation of a commissioned 2D photography exhibit and/or visual art exhibit at the new South County Police Station and Animal Shelter.

Proposals are now being accepted to select 2 artists for commissioned, 2-dimensional art that will be permanently displayed in the entrance and public halls of South County Police Station to welcome the community to the facility. The commissioned works should take into consideration the history of Lorton and South County, relate to the facility they are in, feel welcoming and friendly, and consider the facility also provides a space designated for community use.

The anticipated substantial completion date is Spring 2023, and more information about the project, including renderings can be found online here: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/publicworks/capital-projects/south-county-police-station-and-animal-shelter

Each artist will have one wall designated for their work(s) and the dimensions of available wall space for each wall 10’ wide x 4’ high. A maximum budget of $10,000 will be allocated for each selected proposal. Artists residing in Fairfax County will be given priority consideration for this project.
