The Works Art & Design Festival is the largest free, outdoor art and design festival in North America. Since the first festival in 1986, over 7 million visitors have experienced work in 1,300 exhibits in and around Edmonton's downtown by over 16,000 artists and designers from every continent.
Call for entry for artists
The Works Art and Design Festival seeks Major Project applications for temporary installations or works to animate Sir Winston Churchill Square and other public spaces in downton Edmonton for the 2022 festival scheduled June 23-July 5.
Major Projects are considered memorable and impactful anchors of the festival. Eligible projects are those that are produced or finished upon The Works’ acceptance of the proposal, or those that require extensive preparation and project management. The Works is dedicated to accessibility, inclusion, interactivity, and socially engaged practice. Equity funding is available for eligible projects. Applicants seeking funding are encouraged to express interest to The Works’ Curatorial Department (curatorial@theworks.ab.ca) prior to January 21.
