Event History
For 12 years, the PleinAir Salon Art Competition, inspired by the historic French Salon organized by the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, has offered artists opportunities for growth and recognition through its annual competition and 12 monthly cycles. The competition awards over $50,000 in cash prizes and promotes artists' work extensively. The grand prize includes featuring the winning painting on the cover of PleinAir Magazine. Monthly winners gain recognition via the magazine's print edition, e-newsletters, and social media platforms, and are automatically entered into the annual competition held each spring.
What Makes this event different?
Our competition is entirely online, eliminating the need to mail artwork for exhibition. Submissions are welcome regardless of their status in other competitions. Each Grand Prize winner is awarded $15,000 and their artwork is featured on PleinAir Magazine's cover, the leading representational art magazine at Barnes & Noble. Monthly winners are automatically entered into the Annual Competition for a chance to win the $15,000 prize.
Copyright Policy
By entering the PleinAir Salon, you agree that you are submitting images of your own original artwork and not that of other artists or material in which you do not hold the copyright. The original work does not have to currently be in your possession.
Image Usage Rights
You are also agreeing, in advance, to have your submitted artwork and your image published to any print or digital/electronic property of Streamline Publishing, Inc. This includes, but is not limited to, print and digital magazines, newsletters, websites, e-mails, social media pages, and promotional materials in perpetuity.
Call For Entries for Plein Air Painters
The PleinAir Salon Art Competition is a monthly online art competition that awards over $50,000 each year. There is over $2,000 in Cash Prizes awarded each month, and $22,000 awarded at the Annual Competition each May. Each of the 23 monthly winners are included in the judging for the 13th Annual PleinAir Salon where we award the Grand Prize winner a check for $15,000 and feature their painting on the cover of PleinAir Magazine. The Annual Awards will be presented live at the Plein Air Convention & Expo in May 2024.
