Event History
The Gibsons Public Art Gallery was founded in 2003 and we have issued an Open Call to contemporary artists working in any style and medium every year since. We have recently created an online application portal and simplified our application process. Applications are submitted digitally and it is free to apply.
What Makes this event different?
We are an accessible and professional arts & culture exhibition space, recognized as the best of its kind in our region, and we are a non-profit registered society. We are located a short 40 min. ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, Vancouver, and are a popular tourist destination with over 19,000 visitors in 2025. The large majority of exhibitions at GPAG in the Main and Eve Smart Galleries are selected by Jury through our Open Call. We accept applications from all artists, regardless of their exhibition experience.
Copyright Policy
The Gallery accepts that consignment and delivery of works of art to the Gallery does not imply transfer of ownership or copyright, and will not duplicate works of art in any form without the Artist's permission except for promotional uses which may include images and text on poster, email, newspaper, website and social media.
Image Usage Rights
All applications are evaluated by a Jury of six people appointed by the GPAG Curatorial Team. No images submitted in applications will be used for any purpose beyond adjudicating applications without consent from the artist, apart from images used in the promotion of exhibitions when the artist's application is successful. Please see our sample Artist-Gallery Contract on our website for more details.
Artists working in any style and medium are invited to apply to our Open Call! Proposals for solo and group exhibitions in the Main and Eve Smart Gallery by artists and curators will be accepted January 15th, 2026 to March 31st, 2026 for exhibitions in 2027.
The application is free and must be submitted digitally. If digital submissions are prohibitive, please contact us at info@gpag.ca. Please note that we will not accept applications made by email or applications that do not follow our Submission Guidelines.
