What Makes this event different?
The New York Center for Photographic Art is a unique company with a business model that offers six to eight opportunities a year for any and all photographers, from amateur to professional, male or female, young or old. All individuals are encouraged to submit photographs based on the specific theme as laid out in the call. Ten winners receive cash prizes. Twenty submitters are selected as Juror's Selections and 20 submitters are selected as Honorable Mentions. All winners are shown in our online gallery as well as in the exhibition catalog specifically designed for each individually themed call for entry. We encourage all photographers to submit.
Copyright Policy
All entrants to NYC4PA Open Calls for Entry, by virtue of their submission, are attesting that the images submitted are their own work and there has been no copyright infringement. NYC4PA will not be held liable for any infringement of rights that might surface during the jurying or displaying of any image.
Image Usage Rights
By submitting you grant NYC4PA the right to use your image(s) for promotion and advertisement of NYC4PA as well as inclusion in the NYC4PA catalog and online gallery if the image is prize winning, juror selection or honorable mention. The photographer retains all rights to the image.
Call for Entries for Photographers
At different times of day walking anywhere in the world you can see dramatic changes as the light goes from midday bright to dusk. Early morning/late afternoon light can transform a simple scene to one of great interest as shadows grow longer or shorter. Think of city streets with shadows of tall buildings crossing sidewalks, cars, busses and people. Similarly bright light casting shadows on a flight of stairs creates a canvas of black and white stripes. Just as powerful are shots where the impact of the image is derived from patterns in the composition such as the line-up of palm trees in the tropics with the shadows cast along a sandy beach, rows of theater chairs etc. Different images, interesting interpretations of your own shadow are welcome as well. Be creative - send us your best.
