Call For Entry For: PAPERWORKS 2024 International Juried Art Competition

The competition features a virtual show with a virtual reception on Zoom.
Juror: Julián Sánchez González is an art historian who specializes in the intersection of artistic and spiritual practices in the Americas and the Caribbean throughout the twentieth century. He is currently a PhD Candidate in Art History at Columbia University in NYC, and a Research Fellow at the Museum of Modern Art's Cisneros Institute. His writing has been published by MoMA, Almine Rech, and James Fuentes, as well as by the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango in Bogotá.
Accepted Media: Works made on paper, of paper or about paper: cut paper, woven paper, folded paper, glued paper, pastels, drawings, paintings, printmaking, photographs, paper sculpture, 3D, bound books, collage, mixed media, video, and installation.
Eligibility: Artists who use paper as their primary medium, as a substrate, or as the subject of a video. All entries to the Paperworks 2024 competition must be the original work of the artist. Artist will be allowed to submit up to 6 images and/or 2 videos.
Open Call Begins: March 15, 2024.
Deadline for Submission: June 5, 2024.
Entry Fee: $35.00 for up to 6 images and/or 2 videos. Artists will be judged on their body of work.
Awards and Reception: b.j. spoke gallery will promote the virtual show and display the finalists work on the gallery website (bjspokegallery.org) and social media platforms. The virtual show dates will be July 1 through August 31, 2024. Cash prize for First Place is $300, $200 for Second Place and $100 for Third Place. A Zoom Reception and Awards Presentation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 (7pm EST), for artists, their guests and the public, at which time the award winners will be announced. This event may be recorded for future promotional use.
Notification: Finalists will be notified by June 19, 2024.
Promotion: If selected as a finalist, images of your art, your name, voice, video, artist’s statement and/or bio will be used on the gallery website social media, print and any other publicity used to promote the show.
Size Limitations: There are no size limitations.
