What Makes this event different?
In the face of erasure, we fight back with visibility. 50 Postcards is more than an exhibition—it’s a movement. By flooding spaces worldwide with Queer art, we declare: We exist. We create. We resist. This project funds exhibitions in Washington, D.C., Mexico City, and Baltimore, ensuring financial barriers don’t silence Mexican artists at World Pride 2025. Each postcard features a unique artwork with a QR code linking to a 1-minute artist video—a direct message to President Trump. These postcards transform any space into a pop-up Queer art show, turning homes, cafés, and offices into sites of resistance. Call for Artists: Work in any medium (painting, photography, digital, collage, etc.) that translates to a 4x6-inch postcard. Themes: Queer identity, resistance, resilience, activism, joy, and defiance. A 1-minute video message to Trump. How It Works: Selected works will be printed as postcards and sold individually or as a set. A portion of sales supports participating artists; the rest funds exhibitions and shipping Mexican artists’ work. Deadline: March 20, 2025 Apply at: BureauQueerArt.com
In the face of erasure, we fight back with visibility. 50 Postcards is more than an exhibition—it’s a movement. We are flooding the world with Queer creativity, resilience, and defiance, filling homes, offices, classrooms, and Pride pop-ups with powerful art that refuses to be silenced.
This project funds exhibitions in Washington, D.C., Mexico City, and Baltimore, ensuring that financial barriers don’t prevent Mexican artists from being seen at World Pride 2025 and beyond. Every postcard is an act of resistance—a portable Queer art show that anyone can host, turning any space into a site of radical visibility.
Each postcard features an original artwork with a QR code linking to a 1-minute artist video—a direct message to President Trump. These messages amplify our voices, making it clear that Queer artists will not be erased. The exhibition will also be hosted online at Artsy.net, where collectors can purchase individual postcards or the full set.
Call for Artists
We are looking for artists working in any medium—painting, photography, digital, collage, illustration, and beyond—that can be translated into a 4x6-inch postcard format. The work should explore themes of Queer identity, history, resistance, resilience, activism, joy, intimacy, and defiance in the face of oppression.
Artists must also submit a 1-minute video message to President Trump. These videos will be linked via QR codes on the postcards, allowing each piece to carry both a visual and spoken statement of Queer resistance.
Artists of all backgrounds, especially those from underrepresented communities, are strongly encouraged to apply.
How It Works
- Selected artworks will be professionally printed and distributed as part of the 50 Postcards set.
- Each postcard will feature a QR code linking to the artist’s 1-minute message.
- Artists will be featured in an online exhibition on Artsy.net and promoted across our platforms.
- Anyone, anywhere, can host their own pop-up Queer art exhibition using these postcards.
How Sales Support Queer Artists
Each postcard will be available for purchase individually as a limited edition, with proceeds distributed as follows after covering printing and shipping costs:
- 50% of individual image sales on Artsy.net go directly to the artist.
- 19% goes to Artsy (for Artsy-based sales only) to cover platform fees for international exposure.
- 16% to The Bureau of Queer Art (or 35% for non-Artsy sales) to sustain exhibitions and programs.
- Artists participating in the Artsy.net group exhibition will not pay the $35 platform fee.
Artists in the show will have the opportunity to purchase the full postcard set at a significantly reduced cost. Each artwork on Artsy.net will be available in limited editions:
- 8 x 10 inches (max price $250)
- 16 x 20 inches (max price $500)
A price cap ensures accessibility and encourages broader community collecting. The full postcard set, however, will be unlimited editions, maximizing visibility.
Pre-sale: March 20 – May 15, 2025
Shipments arrive: By May 30, 2025, in time for Pride
While individual print sales support artists directly, full set sales fund our summer World Pride show in Washington, D.C. This ensures that more Mexican artists can exhibit their work internationally without the financial burden. Covering these core production and logistics costs first allows us to maximize the impact of every sale—supporting artists while expanding Queer representation in exhibitions, residencies, and the global art market.
