Event History
Since launching in 2019, the competition has expanded in size, reach, and prestige—drawing more applicants each year and earning recognition from top art institutions. With evolving categories, increased visibility, and a commitment to celebrating bold, original work, the PYA Awards continue to offer young artists an unmatched opportunity to shine on an international stage.
What Makes this event different?
We are one of the few international high school art competitions offering this level of exposure and opportunity. No other student art event generates the same breadth of global recognition. Past winners have gone on to receive major accolades in their fields and have been accepted to some of the world’s leading art and academic institutions, including Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), Pratt Institute, Central Saint Martins, Yale, Columbia, and Cornell.
