Art Call
The Youth-Led Public Art Project in Aldingbourne will continue explorations by national youth arts charity Artswork and Arun District Council into ways to effectively engage the creativity and skills of local children and young people with the public realm in Arun. We wish to commission a professional public artist in order to work in creative collaboration with local schools to research and design a new piece of public art for the area.
The invited commissioned artist will produce a final professional design drawn from the young people’s work and the artist will be responsible for the production and installation of the final piece. Participation may work across primary and secondary phases and between the disciplines of art and science, following a STEAM approach.
The final artwork may take any form (though final height should be <4m) and should relate to the specific qualities of the local area and participants perceptions of their community and its needs. The final design will be agreed by representatives from the Parish and District Councils, participating schools and Artswork.
The project will run between January and September 2022, with the artwork to be installed by September 30th 2022.
