Event History

The PleinAir Salon Art Competition has been running for 12 years. In the spirit of the French Salon created by the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, this annual competition, with 11 monthly cycles, leads to the annual PleinAir Salon winners, and is designed to stimulate artistic growth through art competition.

What Makes this event different?

We run an online competition. There is no need to mail your artwork for an exhibition. You can submit paintings whether they have won another competition or not. Each Grand Prize winner receives a check for $15,000 and their artwork gets featured on the cover of PleinAir Magazine, which is the #1 representational art magazine at Barnes & Noble. Winners from monthly competitions are automatically entered into the running for the Annual Competition and the $15,000 prize check!

Copyright Policy

By entering the PleinAir Salon, you agree that you are submitting images of your own original artwork and not that of other artists or material in which you do not hold the copyright. The original work does not have to currently be in your possession.

Image Usage Rights

You are also agreeing, in advance, to have your submitted artwork and your image published to any print or digital/electronic property of Streamline Publishing, Inc. This includes, but is not limited to, print and digital magazines, newsletters, websites, e-mails, social media pages, and promotional materials in perpetuity.

ART COMPETITION

The PleinAir Salon $33,000 Art Competition is a monthly online contest that consists of 19 categories. We award over $33,000 each year for this competition.

Winners from each monthly art competition may receive recognition and exposure through PleinAir magazine’s print magazine, e-newsletters, and social media. Winners of each contest are entered into the annual competition that is awarded each spring.

The Annual Grand Prize winner receives a check for $15,000 and is featured on the cover of PleinAir Magazine. We award an additional $6,500 to the annual winners and award $1,100 monthly to the top three winners of each competition as well as a People’s Choice Award. Each of the 23 monthly winners are automatically entered into the Annual Competition. The annual awards are presented live at the Plein Air Convention & Expo each spring.
