TERAVARNA proudly launches its 12th Portrait International Juried Art Competition, continuing a legacy that has already seen over $30,000 in cash prizes awarded to talented artists worldwide. While this edition highlights the art of portraiture, we also embrace a wide range of themes including figurative, floral, abstract, color, and landscape. Call for Artists - TERAVARNA 12th Portrait International Juried Art Competition

TERAVARNA, a Los Angeles–based gallery with a strong international presence, is known for its ongoing themed competitions that help artists gain global visibility, artistic recognition, and professional momentum. Through these events, the gallery invites creatives worldwide to showcase their talent and elevate their practice on an international stage.

For the 12th Portrait International Juried Art Competition, artists are encouraged to capture the subtleties of human expression—whether the quiet mystery of a half-smile or the intensity of a penetrating gaze. Explore nuanced emotion, distinctive features, and the essence of the human form as you push your creative boundaries and craft a memorable portrait.

This competition is fully online, offering an easy and accessible way for artists everywhere to participate. Simply photograph your artwork in good lighting, avoiding glare and shadows, and submit it through the gallery’s website. Ready to break free from traditional representation? Here’s your chance to express visual reality in your own abstract language—be it through color, texture, form, or movement. Whether you work with paint, clay, fabric, pixels, or photos, all mediums are welcome: paintings, sculptures, digital art, photography, fiber work, installations, and more, in both 2D and 3D. Winners and runners-up will be awarded up to $3,500 in cash, a certificate of recognition, spotlight features on social media, and a place in our annual art book celebrating standout talent.

The competition welcomes portrait art submissions at just $15 per artwork, with artists having the freedom to submit up to 10 pieces per entry. Want to share more of your creations? Simply start a new submission for another set of 10 artworks, you know there’s no limit to how many masterpieces you can enter! Follow the dates closely as the deadline to submit is December 31, 2025.
