What Makes this event different?
The University of Victoria (UVic) and Jeffrey Rubinoff Sculpture Park (JRSP) Artist Scholar Residency was created by an interinstitutional partnership and their unwavering belief in cultivating the arts. The awardee will participate in a 2-5 week residency on Hornby Island, BC before concluding with an additional week in Victoria BC.
The awardee will travel to Hornby Island for a duration of their choosing (2-5weeks) where they will reside and work on a body of work that is influenced by their experience of being at the 200 acre sculpture park. Following their stay on Hornby, they will travel south island to Victoria, where they will spend a week showcasing their works from the Residency while engaging with UVIC's Fine Arts students through guest lectures, classroom and studio visits.
All travel, food, accommodation and material costs will be covered, in addition to receiving a $5,000 (CAD) artist stipend.
