35th Annual Materials Hard + Soft International Contemporary Craft Competition & Exhibition

Add to Favorites Report Listing

Event History

Since 2017, the exhibition has expanded to include works by international artists. Past jurors include: JoAnn Edwards of the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco, CA, Perry Price, Executive Director of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Janet McCall retired director of Contemporary Craft in Pittsburg, PA, and Beth C. McLaughlin of the Fuller Craft in Brockton, MA, and Pablo Barrera of the Oklahoma Contemporary.

What Makes this event different?

Our exhibition will focus on the evolution and innovation of contemporary craft. Works that will be selected by the juror will showcase beauty and also risks taken in their technical design. The exhibit will feature what artists are creating now, what stories are they telling now. We encourage all artists to apply who are using their artwork to tell stories that maybe haven't been heard in a traditional gallery setting before and using techniques and methods to create their art that doesn't follow a traditional script.

The Greater Denton Arts Council is proud to present the 35th annual Materials: Hard + Soft International Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition.
