Event History
Located in the beautiful and historic Mohawk Valley, the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library is unique in New York State; we are a stellar American Art Museum and historic community Library. The American painting collection includes seven oil paintings by Winslow Homer and significant paintings by many distinguished artists including; Thomas Benton, William M. Chase, Childe Hassam, John Singer Sargent, Albert Bierstadt, and Gilbert Stuart.
Artists living in New York State are invited to submit entries to The Art of New York: Annual Juried Art Show hosted by the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library. The 2024 Juror is Doretta Miller, Professor Emerita, Art Department, Skidmore College. She has had a professional career as an Artist and Art Educator since 1972. Miller’s works are in permanent collections including the United States Court of International Trade, The Hyde Collection, and Albany Institute of History and Art.
Doretta was represented at First Street Gallery, New York City for over twenty years, and has been in numerous regional and international exhibitions. She has received exhibition awards from The National Arts Club and at the Biennale International of Contemporary Art, Florence, Italy.
Maximum height or width of 50” for 2D, 24” for 3D work. Accepted works are on display from May 10 through July 21, 2024, in the Regional Art Galleries. Accepted artists and a guest may tour the Arkell Museum with one-day-free admission passes. Accepted artists are also eligible for consideration for solo Regional Art Gallery exhibitions.
