Event History

The 2025 COMEL Award, an international competition promoting the use of aluminium in art, is now open to adult artists living and working in Europe. Participants are invited to submit an artwork made of aluminium inspired by the theme "Aluminium, the Silent Strength." The competition explores aluminium’s adaptability and resilience, drawing a parallel with the human ability to endure challenges and transform through adversity. Artists are encouraged to reflect this strength—quiet yet powerful—through their work. Applications are open until June 22. A jury, chaired by critic Giorgio Agnisola, will select 13 finalists whose works will be exhibited at Spazio COMEL in Latina from October 18 to November 8. Two prizes will be awarded: the COMEL Award, selected by the jury, which includes a €3,500 cash prize and a solo exhibition opportunity; and the Audience Award, based on visitor votes. Participation is free.

What Makes this event different?

The COMEL Award is unique in its kind, as for 12 editions it has promoted the aesthetic and artistic use of aluminium. It has brought together artists from all over Europe, connecting them with top-level jurors from the fields of Italian art criticism and art history. It is a free-entry competition that rewards those who can enhance the value of aluminium while addressing the proposed theme, which changes with each edition. Artists are invited to challenge themselves and be bold with metal, using a wide range of techniques.
