The Donald M. Robinson Photography Biennial honora the memory of Donald M. Robinson in partnership with the Donald and Sylvia Robinson Family Foundation.
Copyright Policy
Artist will maintain ownership and copyright of the image. Upon application to the exhibition, they consent to allowing their images to be used for promotion materials such a catalogues, posters, and etc.
The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art will be hosting the Donald M. Robinson Photography Biennial 2020. This exhibit will take place from April 17th through June 6th, 2020. The exhibition offers photographers the opportunity to be recognized for your work. Cash awards will include a top prize of $2,000 for Best of Show, together with a $1,500 First Place, a $1,000 Second Place awards and a $500 Third Place Award. A reception will be held at the Loretto Museum and awards will be announced that evening. An exhibition catalog will be published.
Please fill out the PDF application form and submit a compact disc with JPEG images of up to 3 works exemplifying your current style or email the form and images to loretto@sama-art.org. Work should be within the last year, and should not have been exhibited at previous SAMA Biennials or the annual exhibitions of the Allied Artists of Johnstown, Art in Common, or the Southwestern Pennsylvania Council for the Arts. If the work is not owned by the artist, permission must be secured from the owner in the event it is chosen for the exhibition. There should be one CD image per the submitted piece.
This material, and a $25 application fee must be received by Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020. You can pay the fee by going to sama-art.org, then under “Join SAMA” select “Make a Donation.” Once on that page select the “Donate” button to be redirected to process the $25.00 registration fee.
Please indicate the retail value of your work on the enclosed application. This value will be the listed price if the work is for sale and will also be used as the insurance value for your work. You will be notified in February 2020.
The Museum will insure all selected works wall-to-wall while on exhibition, publish an illustrated checklist, promote the exhibition statewide through press releases and public service announcements, and host an artists' reception. We ask that artists whose work has been selected deliver and pick up at Loretto during a designated timeframe. Specific dates and further details will be announced later.
The Donald M. Robinson Photography Biennial 2020 promises to be one of the most exciting and rewarding exhibitions in the region.
