KCS' Korean Art Competition

Add to Favorites Report Listing

Event History

Building on the success of our recent AAPI Art Competition, which drew nearly 70 participants across all grade levels, KCS is proud to launch its first-ever Korean Art Competition. This new contest continues our mission to celebrate youth creativity, cultural pride, and community connection.

What Makes this event different?

This is one of the few statewide art competitions exclusively for Korean American students. Sponsored by the Asian American Federation, the event gives youth a rare platform to explore their cultural identity while gaining recognition and encouragement from their community.

Copyright Policy

Artists retain full ownership of their work. By submitting, participants grant KCS non-exclusive rights to display and promote selected works in exhibitions, digital showcases, and community reports, with credit always given to the artist.

Image Usage Rights

Submitted images may be used in KCS promotional materials, websites, social media, and publications, strictly for non-commercial purposes. Artists will be credited wherever their work appears.

Korean Community Services (KCS), with support from the Asian American Federation, is launching its first Korean Art Competition, designed to spotlight the creativity of Korean American youth across New York State. Students in grades 1 through 12 are invited to submit original artwork that responds to the 2025 theme: “The Faces of My Community.”

This contest is more than a chance to win prizes; it’s an opportunity for young artists to reflect on their own lives, the communities that surround them, and the ways culture and identity shape their experiences. Whether through drawing, painting, or digital design, participants are encouraged to bring forward new perspectives and bold artistic voices.

A panel of guest jurors will review submissions through a blind selection process, ensuring that each piece is considered purely on creativity, skill, and impact. Top entries will be honored at the KCS Korean Art Showcase & Ceremony in Bayside, NY, on November 22, 2025, where families and the broader community will gather to celebrate the achievements of these young artists.

Awards include an $800 Grand Prize, three $400 Category Prizes (elementary, middle, and high school levels), and three $100 Honorable Mentions. Selected works may also be displayed or shared by KCS to highlight the richness and diversity of youth perspectives.

This new competition builds on the success of KCS' recent AAPI Art Contest, which attracted nearly 70 submissions across age groups. With the Korean Art Competition, KCS hopes to expand that momentum and create a dedicated space for Korean American students to see their stories represented and celebrated.

Eligibility is limited to students of Korean descent in grades 1–12 who reside in New York State. Each participant may submit one original 2D artwork (traditional or digital), within the required size limits, by October 31, 2025, at 5:00 PM EST.
