Malamegi Lab Art Award
The Malamegi Lab Art Award is an international contemporary art competition open to artists working across a range of disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, mixed media, digital art, and video.
Twelve finalist artists will be selected for a group exhibition and consideration for several awards, including an artwork acquisition, a cash prize, a monographic art book, and the opportunity to develop a new collection with Malamegi Lab.
Prizes and Awards
Artwork Acquisition Award
Malamegi Lab will acquire one artwork from among the 12 finalists for its private collection. The maximum purchase value is €2,000. Works that are not for sale or are priced above €2,000 are not eligible for this award but may still be considered for other prizes.
Cash Prize
One of the 12 selected artists will receive a €1,000 cash prize following the group exhibition. The award will be based on the quality and originality of the exhibited work. The winning artwork remains the property of the artist.
Monographic Art Book
One finalist will be selected for a monographic art book dedicated to their work. Malamegi Lab will curate, develop, produce, print, and distribute the book in collaboration with the final exhibition’s curators, at its own expense. Additional copies will be provided to the artist for personal use.
Malamegi New Collection
One finalist will have the opportunity to collaborate with Malamegi Lab on developing a new collection of their work. The collection will be promoted and presented to buyers within Malamegi Lab’s commercial network.
Group Exhibition
Twelve artists will be selected to participate in the competition’s final group exhibition. A general exhibition catalogue will be distributed during the exhibition. Invitations to the opening will be sent to artists, curators, critics, journalists, and media in the host city.
