Event History
The Brain Bridge Lab is a psychology lab at the University of Chicago. We deal with the bridge between perception and memory. As a part of our ongoing research project studying the relationship between art and memory, we are running an art contest!
What Makes this event different?
Unlike traditional art contests, the winners of each category will be determined solely based on the artwork’s “Memorability Score,” or how well they manipulate the memory of the viewer. In this way, this is both an art contest and an experiment!
Image Usage Rights
The Brain Bridge Lab and University of Chicago obtains the rights to all entries submitted. License to use entries: By submitting an entry, entrant grants the University of Chicago an irrevocable, royalty-free, nonexclusive, worldwide perpetual license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, distribute, publicly perform, display, and otherwise use the entry for all purposes and in any media, whether now known or created in the future, without further compensation, notification, permission, or duty of accounting. Entrant further waives all moral rights and rights to compensation, accounting for revenues or profits, notification, or permission in connection with the University’s exercise of the foregoing license.
Art Contest - Open to All
The submission deadline for entries is April 1st, and the contest welcomes participation from all interested individuals. The top 5 winners in each category receive the following cash prizes:
1st = $1000
2nd = $500
3rd = $250
4th = $100
5th = $50
The top 20 winners in each category will have their artwork shown in person at the Connect Gallery (https://www.connectgallery.org/) in Hyde Park from late March to late April.
