Event History
Now in its 172nd year, the Annual Open Exhibition has showcased a legacy of artists, including Vanessa Bell, David Hockney, Sir Peter Blake, Mary Fedden, and Sir Frank Bowling, as well as mid-career and student artists. The RWA continues to champion artistic talent, providing a platform for diverse and innovative art making.
What Makes this event different?
The RWA Annual Open Exhibition is the largest of its kind in the South West. 500+ selling artists exhibited in the 171 Annual Open Exhibition in 2024 and had their work seen by over 10,000 visitors. Last year, we awarded prizes worth a total of £10,000.
Copyright Policy
Copyright remains with the artist; however, by registering online and agreeing to the terms and conditions the artist agrees that their work can be used for the promotion of the RWA and its exhibitions. If an artist does not own all of the rights, title and interest in and to a Work, the RWA must be expressly informed in writing of all relevant details concerning all other third parties’ rights to that Work. The artist shall indemnify the RWA against all losses, liabilities, costs and expenses in respect of claims made by third parties alleging partial or total ownership of the Work or any rights in the Work, including intellectual property rights.
The RWA Annual Open Exhibition is one of the UK’s most prestigious open-submission exhibitions, welcoming artists from all over the world at all stages of their careers.
